A group of friends getting together for an evening of joyful socializing. Nothing special about that. And yet, if it’s understood that part of the evening’s enjoyment will be being sexual together, the party takes on a whole new meaning and intensity.
This was the situation in 2000, shortly after I had begun photographing couples being sexual, when my friends, Amy and Rick, invited me and my partner to join three other couples for an open-ended evening of fun and sexual exploration. Would we be interested in joining the group? Indeed we were. And would I be interested in photographing the event as part of my new project of sexual imaging? Of course I would.
Not coincidentally, a few weeks earlier, Amy and Rick had enthusiastically voluntee...
