As I’ve mentioned before, I prefer to photograph my couples in their homes. I feel that is where they are most likely to feel comfortable, most able to simply relax and be themselves, which is the essence of the honesty and spontaneity that I try to capture in my images
But sometimes shooting them at home is not possible, as was the case with Scott and Nicole in 2009. I don’t remember why they didn’t want to use their home for the shoot, but long story short is that I offered the use of my apartment (I don’t have a full photo studio) instead. They were pleased to accept with this arrangement and, as it turns out, were able to be quite comfortable settling in and playing in my living room and on my couch.
